Ellen Degeneres Has a New “Halo”
California, March 18, 2008 –Ellen Degeneres has been known to hold more than a few jobs in her day. She is an Emmy winning talk show host, comedienne, sitcom actress, awards show host, feature film actress, producer, writer and even lent her voice to a loveable little blue cartoon fish named Dory. But there are a few things you may not know about her. She has always been known to be an animal lover but even as a child, Degeneres says she wanted to grow up to be a veterinarian just so she could be with and help animals everyday. She believes every pet should be afforded a few essential basics in life: to be treated the way their owners want to be treated, to have a comfy bed, toys to play with and food that keeps them healthy. After finding out one of her pets suffered from allergies, she was motivated to find healthy, holistic pet food. These factors all contributed to Degeneres’ most recent job as co-owner of the all-natural dog food company, Halo.
A long time consumer of Halo products, Degeneres only recently decided to become involved in the company. She said, “Everything about Halo is great. I’ve been using all of their products long before I decided to invest in the company. I attribute my shiny coat to their all-natural supplements.”
Halo announced the addition of Degeneres as co-owner on March 3. “This is a defining moment in the history of Halo,” said Halo President Alan Kerzner. “After more than a year of discussions, we’re delighted to have Ellen join our family, especially at this time of exciting growth. We are a company built on the foundation of providing the best possible care to pets and Ellen wholeheartedly shares our beliefs.”
Halo sets themselves apart from other pet foods because they promise their products are never made with artificial ingredients, byproducts, preservatives, fillers, artificial colors or flavors. They pride themselves as being America’s premiere holistic pet care company and on making pet food with only the purest, most natural ingredients fortified with vitamins and minerals. Ingredients include butcher quality chicken, eggs, carrots, flaxseed, green peas, barley, sweet potatoes and cranberries.
Degeneres is so confident in Halo’s line of food made with all natural ingredients, she claims she would even eat it herself! “If you forget to go to the grocery store, you can actually split a can with your dog. If you’re going with the lamb, I’d recommend a nice Pinot.”
Halo expanded its product line in February and is now available nationwide and for the first time ever, offers a variety of dry food for cats and dogs in addition to their canned food, supplements, treats and grooming supplies.
Halo publishes a few of their favorite recipes on their website and informs readers on how they can make their own healthy food for their pets at home. Recipes include “Healthy cornucopia for dogs,” “Big mack for cats” and “Bravo’s Bodacious hearty burger stew.”
